Took me almost 2 years to figure out why my rice kept coming out gummy
I was rinsing it wrong the whole time and only figured it out after my neighbor in Dayton showed me her $8 rice cooker method, so now I'm wondering what other cheap kitchen tricks I've been doing backwards this whole time.
So your rice was gummy for two years and a neighbor fixed it with an $8 cooker? I'm not buying that the cooker was the magic part. Rinsing wrong would do it, sure, but a cheap cooker doesn't rinse for you, so you still had to change how you washed the rice. Sounds more like you just finally paid attention to the water ratio. Half the "tricks" people swear by are just them doing the normal thing correctly for once. Two years is a long time to eat bad rice though, so I get why you'd want to blame the equipment.
