My barber told me he never pays for a hotel in Lisbon
He stays in a monastery guesthouse for 25 euros a night, which is a third of the usual price. Has anyone found similar deals in other cities?

No kidding, that's a solid find. I crashed in a pilgrim hostel in Santiago for like 15 euros once. Same deal, super basic but clean and quiet. You gotta look for religious houses or university dorms in the off-season. Found a college room in Prague one summer for peanuts.

That barber sounds like a resourceful guy, unlike the one @river_rivera45 and I share. I got a similar tip from a hostel owner in Rome about staying with nuns, but the curfew was a dealbreaker for me.
