My buddy swore by booking flights on Tuesday at 2 AM. Total myth.
My friend Dave told me airlines release their cheapest seats at 2 AM on Tuesdays. I woke up at 1:45 AM last week to book a flight from Austin to Denver. The price was $187, which was actually $20 more than what I saw on Wednesday afternoon. Did some digging and found out that pricing changes are random based on demand, not a secret time slot. Anyone else fall for a travel myth that turned out to be junk?

My buddy booked a 5 AM flight once and the airline cancelled it an hour before.

Dave told me the same garbage years ago about Southwest releasing their "secret inventory" at 3 AM on Wednesdays. I set three alarms and woke up to a price that was literally $47 more than what I saw at noon. The whole thing is a joke airlines love to keep alive so people like us feel smart for staying up late. Honestly the only real trick is booking out exactly 6 to 8 weeks in advance for domestic flights, everything else is just noise. Your Austin to Denver story is EXACTLY why I stopped listening to anyone who says they "cracked the code" on airline pricing. Now I just compare prices on Google Flights over a few days and grab whatever looks reasonable.
