My friend swore by booking flights on Tuesdays at 3am so I tried it and saved $40 on a ticket to Phoenix last month

I set an alarm for 2:45am, booked a round trip to Phoenix for $87, but then my friend admitted she just made that up for laughs lol, has anyone else fallen for a fake travel hack that actually worked by accident?

And here I thought you cracked some secret airline algorithm, turns out you just got lucky at 3am like a drunk person ordering pizza. At least your friend's prank saved you forty bucks, which is more than those "incognito mode" travel hacks ever did for me. Honestly, if accidentally following bad advice works, maybe I should start listening to my GPS when it takes me through a cornfield.

3am IS actually when airlines often release unsold seats, so your drunk pizza analogy is closer to reality than you think. Airlines dump leftover inventory around midnight to 4am in the departure time zone, which is why that friend's "bad advice" accidentally worked. You are totally right though that incognito mode hacks are mostly nonsense, airlines don't care about your browser cookies nearly as much as reddit thinks they do.
