Why does nobody talk about the free city bikes in Lisbon?

I was there last month and used the Gira bikes for a week, only paying the 2 euro sign up fee. Some folks say they're a hassle to find a dock, but I think it's the best way to see the hills without a tour bus. What's your take on free city transport versus paid tours?

You're right about the docks being a hassle. My friend got stuck halfway up a hill once because the closest one was full, lol. But he still says it beat being stuck on a bus with a bunch of tourists.

Yeah, that tracks. I saw a thing about how the dock systems are getting overloaded in a lot of cities. Makes sense people would rather deal with that than crowded public transport. Your friend's story is a perfect example.

Wait, you only paid two euros for a whole week? That's wild, I thought there'd be a daily charge or something. @blakecampbell is right about docks being a problem, but for that price I'd just walk the bike to the next one. Free beats a stuffy tour bus any day.
