Ditched my meal prep Sunday routine for cooking as I go and my grocery bill dropped $60

I used to be all about prepping every meal on Sunday. Chicken, rice, veggies, the whole deal. But I kept throwing stuff out by Thursday because I got sick of eating the same thing. My friend told me she just buys ingredients and cooks whatever she feels like each day. Tried it for a month and I'm spending way less because I'm actually using everything up. Has anyone else found a better groove than the typical meal prep thing?
