My credit union teller laughed at my handwritten budget notebook and said one sentence that saved me $340
She pointed at my grocery line and said "you wrote $200 but the last 3 months you averaged $340," so I started budgeting off my worst month instead of my best guess, and somehow that made the whole thing stop falling apart.
How did you figure out your "worst month" number without making the budget feel impossible to stick to? Like if I set my grocery line at my worst month I'd probably just give up by week two. Did the teller say anything else or was that it?
