Quit buying lunch at the gas station by my shop and my grocery bill told the story
I run a tree service out of a little lot off Route 9 in Poughkeepsie and for two years I was grabbing a sandwich and a big soda at the gas station next door almost daily, no thinking, just habit. When I finally added it up I was blowing around $260 a month on that stuff, which is nuts for turkey on white bread. So I started packing a cooler with leftovers and a thermos of coffee, and my food spending dropped to $110 in the first full month, which I saw right on the receipt totals. The dumb part is I felt like I was treating myself, but I was just tired and the register was three steps away. Anyone else find a mindless daily spend that turned out way bigger than you figured once you actually counted it?
