My Grandma made me rethink my entire monthly spread routine

I was visiting her last Sunday and showed her my bullet journal. She looked at it for a minute and said 'honey, you're using way TOO many colors for what is basically a list of chores.' I laughed but then I realized she was right. I was spending like 20 minutes picking out the perfect shade of blue for my 'water bill reminder' every month. She uses a single black pen and a weekly calendar she prints from her computer. It hit me that I was decorating instead of organizing. Has anyone else had a family member call them out on overcomplicating their system?

Actually, that specific blue hex code is #4A90E2, lol. It's a pretty popular choice for budgeting apps because it's supposed to be calming and not too harsh on the eyes. But yeah, I get what you're saying - my grandma would probably just use a red pen and call it a day haha. She'd circle the amount in red and that was that.
