Spent 3 hours last Sunday trying to fix my weekly spread because I kept numbering the days wrong

I draw out my monthly layout by hand every time, and last Sunday I somehow wrote Monday twice in the same week. I sat there with a ruler and an eraser for almost 3 hours trying to fix it without ripping the page, and I still ended up starting the whole spread over on a fresh sheet. The weird part is I use a pencil first for the day numbers, so I genuinely do not know how I messed it up. Does anybody else do a rough pencil pass before going in with pen, or am I just wasting time doing it twice?
