Finally tossed that old boning knife I kept trying to fix

Sharpened it three times last week, still couldn't get through a pork shoulder without fighting it. Wasted about $40 on stones and time before just buying a new one. What's your go-to brand when a blade is truly done?

Feel your pain on that endless sharpening cycle. Sometimes a blade just loses its soul and you have to let it go. I've had good luck with Victorinox for a solid, no-fuss replacement.

Ugh, right? It's like the edge just gives up. I've been there too, it's so frustrating.

Nah, I'm the guy who will fight with a blade forever. I mean, I had this old filet knife my grandpa gave me, totally bent, and I spent a whole weekend just bringing it back. It's not about the money, it's about the win. Sometimes you just get a bad piece of steel or the angle's gone, but @umaf20 saying a blade loses its soul? Maybe it just needs a different approach. I'd take that $40 on stones as a learning cost any day.
