My cousin swore I should sort reviews by 'newest first' at Best Buy and it led me to a 1-star review that saved me $80
My cousin Dave buys everything online and he told me last weekend to always sort buyer reviews by newest first instead of most helpful. I was about to grab a $80 air fryer at the Best Buy on Staten Island and the top reviews were all 4 and 5 stars from a few years back. When I switched to newest, the ten most recent reviews were all 1 star and every single one said the same thing, the coating peeled after about 3 weeks. There were 10 complaints in a row from people who bought it in the last 2 months. I put it back on the shelf and got a different one for $95 that had steady 4 star reviews going back 8 months. Now I sort newest first on everything, but I'm wondering if that's actually the right move or if I'm just reading angry people who bought it yesterday. Does anyone else do this or am I overthinking it?
