My week of trying to buy a decent office chair from online reviews
I spent last Tuesday night reading over a hundred buyer reviews for a chair called the 'ErgoPro 3000'. Every single one was either a five-star ad or a one-star rant about a broken wheel. I finally ordered it, and the box arrived with a huge dent in the side. The armrest was already cracked. Has anyone actually found a good way to spot the real reviews from the fake ones?

Trust the one-star rants more.

Totally agree with @barbaraschmidt. Read a thing once that said the one-star reviews are where people are the most honest, even if they're mad.

Yeah, the "trust the one-star rants" idea is spot on. Those reviews cut through all the marketing fluff and show you what actually breaks or frustrates people. I've bought stuff thinking the five-star reviews were legit, only to find the exact problem some angry person warned about. The one-star crowd might be mad, but they're rarely lying.
