Swapped my Festool track saw for a cheap circular saw and a straight edge

I used to think you had to drop serious cash on a plunge saw to get clean sheet goods, but last month I tried cutting 3/4 ply with my old Skilsaw and a 48 inch aluminum straight edge I clamped down. The cuts came out straight enough for the face frames I was building, and I saved about 400 bucks that I put toward a better router bit set. What finally convinced me was watching a guy at a local shop in Portland rip down 50 sheets a day with the same setup, no fancy dust collection either. Has anyone else gone back to basics on panel sizing and regretted it or felt relieved?
