I trashed ultrasonic cleaning for years. Now I get it.

I always thought paying for a heated ultrasonic bath was a waste when a good soak in solvent worked fine. Then I picked up a beat-up $85 one from a shop in Cleveland that was closing down. First time I ran a seized shutter assembly through it, the crud just floated off, no scrubbing. Has anyone else caved and bought one after being a holdout?

Honestly, that’s how it always goes with tools you think are overrated. I was the same way with a cheap parts washer for years, just figured a bucket of solvent and some elbow grease was good enough. Then I used a friend’s one time on a dirty carb, and it was like night and day. It’s funny how we fight buying the thing that actually makes the job easier, then once we get it, we can’t imagine going back.
