My cheap sleeping pad popped on night one in Big Sur
I bought a $30 inflatable pad off Amazon for a 3 night trip last month. First night, woke up at 3am flat on the rocks. Patched it twice but it kept leaking. Ended up sleeping on pine needles the last two nights and honestly my back felt fine. Makes me wonder if we all overpay for sleeping pads or if I just got lucky. Anyone else had a cheap pad fail on them?

Dude same thing happened to me with a cheap pad in Joshua Tree. Woke up on the dirt both nights and honestly slept better than I do at home sometimes. Makes you wonder if all this fancy gear is just marketing hype. My buddy spent $200 on some ultralight pad and it still deflated a little overnight. The ground isn't that bad once you get used to it.

Man I had a $25 Klymit knockoff fail on me in the Sierra Nevada last summer. Woke up with my hipbone grinding into a root and the pad hissing like a dying cat. I patched it three times with that cheap repair kit and it still sounded like a flat tire by sunrise. But here's the thing, I actually slept okay on the dirt too. Maybe my standards are just low or maybe I've been brainwashed by my couch at home.
