Update: my camping stove never needed a windscreen, it needed me to stop cooking in a wind tunnel
I spent 2 seasons blaming my stove for slow boils when the real issue was me setting up on the exposed side of the ridge at Mount Rogers with a 15 mph crosswind. A $2 piece of foil folded into a 3 sided shield cut my boil time from 9 minutes to under 4, and I feel dumb for not testing it sooner. What's the dumbest gear complaint you had that turned out to be your own setup?
