Got quoted $18,000 for a foundation crack repair in Hamilton last week

I finally got around to checking that hairline crack in my basement after buying the house in 2022. It's been there since day one but I figured it was just settling. Last week a buddy pointed out water stains near it so I called three companies. The first guy came in with some fancy carbon fiber straps and said I needed full excavation for $18,000. Seemed like a lot for a crack that's barely 2mm wide. Second company wanted to just inject epoxy from inside for around $1,200. Third one said to watch it for a few months since the water stain was probably from old rain. Has anyone here dealt with something similar in an older home? I'm leaning toward the epoxy route but worried about making things worse.

Man I can barely fix my own wifi without breaking something, so that 18k quote would've sent me running.

barely fix my own wifi" is literally me. I tried to setup a mesh network once and ended up with NO internet for three days cause I messed up the router settings so bad. An 18k quote would've had me hyperventilating into a paper bag. Like I can't even trust myself to plug in a ethernet cable right, let alone drop that kind of cash on something I'd probably break worse.
