I compared a $350K townhouse in Kitchener vs a $400K detached in London and the math was obvious

That $50K gap gets real small real fast when you're staring down a new roof or furnace in that London house. Did you actually check the age of the major systems in the detached place, or were you just looking at square footage? Because I've learned the hard way that "move-in ready" can mean "nothing's broken yet, but give it six months.

Has anyone else done that thing where you spend hours running the numbers, feel super confident, then realize you forgot to factor in like... your own terrible luck with home maintenance? Because I totally did that. I was all proud of my spreadsheet until my buddy's basement flooded and I remembered I can barely fix a toilet. So I guess the math was obvious until I had to admit I'd probably end up paying double for a handyman anyway.
