Rented a heated unit for 6 months, my cover car came out worse than my friend's barn find
Everyone says climate controlled storage is a scam but I tried it in Phoenix last summer and my 1972 Camaro still got mildew on the seats. The unit kept it at 75 degrees but the humidity sat at like 70 percent with zero airflow. My buddy kept his same car in a dirt floor barn outside Sedona with a tarp and a few buckets of silica gel. After the same six months his interior was drier than mine and he paid $40 a month versus my $185. I checked the hygrometer and my unit never dropped below 65% humidity even with a dehumidifier running. The vents were barely open and the manager said it was normal. How are you guys handling moisture in sealed units without dropping a fortune on electric dehumidifiers?

Your buddy's silica gel buckets are doing a lot more work than people give them credit for, and that barn probably had way better airflow than your sealed unit. Heat without air movement just cooks the moisture right into upholstery, 75 degrees doesn't mean dry. I've seen sealed units turn into saunas in Arizona, the vents on those things are basically decorative. A cheap box fan on a timer plus a couple of those rechargeable dehumidifier tubs would've beat your $185 a month setup easily. You paid for climate control, but you got a greenhouse.
