Dropped $1,200 on a resume writer in Chicago and got one callback in 5 months
Two years ago I paid a resume service $1,200 to rewrite my resume and LinkedIn. The lady promised ATS-proof formatting and said I would get calls within weeks. Five months later I had exactly one phone screen, and the recruiter asked why my job duties read like a press release. I pulled the file back out and saw she had stuffed it with words like spearheaded and orchestrated that had nothing to do with what I actually did. I rewrote it myself in a weekend, kept it to one page, and started each bullet with what I fixed and what it saved. Got three interviews in three weeks after that. Has anyone here actually paid for a resume service and had it work out, or did I just pick a bad one?

Man, respectfully disagree, some writers are worth it if you skip the fluff.
