Hot take: I froze during my first big client call and the fix was one sentence
Last Tuesday I was on a Zoom call with a client in Denver who pays us about $4k a month, and halfway through my pitch my brain just went blank. I sat there for what felt like a full minute with my mouth open while my boss watched from the corner of the screen. Instead of trying to fake my way through it, I just said "sorry, I lost my train of thought, give me ten seconds" and wrote down my next three points on a sticky note. The client actually laughed and said he respected that way more than someone rambling. We closed the deal an hour later and my boss told me afterward that admitting the blank spot saved the whole call. Has anyone else had a moment like this where being honest about messing up actually worked in your favor?
