Just realized the best career advice I ever got was from a stranger at a Denver airport bar
He said 'Your network isn't who you know, it's who knows what you're good at.' I've focused on showing my skills at work ever since, not just collecting contacts. Anyone else have a random piece of advice that stuck?

Ever notice how the best truths feel obvious in hindsight?

Oh man, that's so true. My best advice came from a guy fixing my sink who told me to stop saying "sorry" all the time at work and just say "thanks for your patience" instead. Changed my whole life. It's funny how the people who aren't trying to give you a lecture end up giving you the real stuff. Guess I should hang out in more airport bars.

It's like the best advice is always hiding in plain sight. You just need someone to point it out for you.
