Mock interview fiasco at a job fair changed my prep approach

At a career fair in Columbus six weeks ago, I signed up for a free mock interview. The volunteer was a retired HR lady, and she tore apart my answer about a project delay. Said I sounded like I was reading a police report, zero emotion. She made me redo it three times on the spot, slower and with more real examples. That hour hurt, but my next real interview got a callback in two days. Anyone else had a brutal mock that actually helped them land something?
