Took a 20% pay cut to move to a smaller firm, best call I've made
I spent 5 years at a big consulting shop in Chicago and thought I needed that name on my resume to advance. Then an old coworker called me about a 12 person firm that does the same kind of work but with way less red tape. I ignored it for 3 months until I saw him post about finishing a project in 2 weeks that would've taken us 6 at the big place. That did it for me. I made the move in March and honestly the project variety is way better, feedback is immediate, and my stress level dropped big time. Has anyone else given up a fancy title for a smaller team and regretted it or loved it? I'm curious if this was just my situation or if it's a pattern.
