That old-timer who told me to never trust a tape measure at 30 degrees
Guy named Vern at the lumber yard swore metal tapes shrink in the cold, so I started using a caliper on exposed outdoor cuts... sure enough, a deck I built last January was off by almost an eighth on every post. Anyone else adjust for temp on long runs?

800 bucks down the drain for a post that was supposed to be straight, that's rough. Honestly I'd be sick if I was the contractor who had to fix that.
