Had a real scare with a seam popping up in a finished job
I was finishing up a big living room install in a house over in Bakersfield last Thursday, everything looked perfect. I ran my hand over the last seam near the fireplace, and I felt a tiny bump. I thought it was just a stray fiber, but when I looked closer, the seam tape had failed and the carpet was starting to lift. My heart just dropped. I had already moved all the furniture back for the homeowner. I had to pull the baseboard trim back, lift the edge, and re-stretch that whole section. I used a different brand of seam tape I had in the truck, the heavy-duty kind. It took me an extra hour and a half, but it held. Has anyone else had a seam fail right after you thought you were done? What tape do you trust the most?

That "heart just dropped" feeling is the worst.

Read something once about that feeling being a leftover from our old fight or flight days. Your body just dumps a bunch of chemicals when it thinks there's danger. Makes sense why it feels so physical and awful. Kind of wild that a text message can trigger the same system as seeing a predator.

Oh man, that's the universe just deciding to give you a little pop quiz right at the end. Like, "Hey, you think you're done? Think again, buddy." That sinking feeling is the worst, especially after the furniture is back. Glad you had the good tape in the truck. I've been there, and it always seems to happen on the last seam you check, in the most visible spot. Makes you want to just stare at the ceiling for a minute.
