Just realized those plastic seam rollers are actually worth the money
For years I thought they were a gimmick and just used my carpet roller. Last month I had a job in a tight hallway where the regular roller wouldn't fit. I grabbed a cheap plastic one from the truck and gave it a shot. It pressed the seam down perfectly without any risk of marking the carpet face. Now I keep one in my kit for corners and edges. What other small tools have you guys found surprisingly useful?

Took me way too long to learn that lesson myself (I was stubbornly using a putty knife for years, which, looking back, was a terrible idea). The little plastic trim pry bars are another one that seemed silly until I needed to pull a baseboard without wrecking the wall. Now it feels like half my truck is just these weird little specialty tools I used to make fun of.

Wait you used a putty knife for years? I mean that must have been so frustrating trying to get anything done. I can't even imagine the paint damage. My dad tried that once and put a hole straight through the drywall. Those little plastic pry bars are total lifesavers, I finally bought some after ruining a door frame. Now I have a whole drawer of weird tools I swore I'd never need.
