Marking the backing saved me a headache on a closet install
Yesterday, I was working on a bedroom with a tricky closet. The carpet never seems to lay right in those corners. I tried something new by drawing the floor shape on the carpet back. I used a regular pencil to make clear lines. After stretching, I cut along the marks with my knife. The fit was spot on and saved me from redoing it. The client loved how smooth it looked. I'm definitely using this trick again.
