My neighbor swore by buying dented cans from the grocery outlet, saved me $12 a week

He said the stores throw out perfectly good food just because the label is crinkled, and I found a whole shelf of canned tomatoes and beans for half price at Grocery Outlet last Tuesday. Has anyone else scored on dented cans or are you paranoid about botulism like I was?

$12 a week savings from dented cans? Wow, that is a lot more than I would have guessed." I have to admit, I always thought those dented cans were risky, but hearing your neighbor swear by them makes me wonder. I used to work in a small grocery store years ago and we were told to pull cans with any dents, but the owner said they were still safe if the seal wasn't broken. Maybe I have been missing out on some easy savings all this time.

Just check the seal is tight and skip cans with deep dents or leaks.
