inThat old seam roller I swore by finally gave out on me
Actually, a Marshalltown is a different brand from a Roberts (they're both good, just different). For a heavy duty one, I've had good luck with the Crain 219, even in the heat.

inSerious question, has anyone else switched from a standard 18 gauge nailer to a 16 gauge for thicker engineered floors?
Oh man, you're totally right! I made that switch a few years back for anything over half an inch. The 16 gauge just has that extra bit of thickness to really lock the tongue in place. I've used it on some thick bamboo and even wider plank maple with zero callbacks. It's a game changer for stopping those little shifts that cause squeaks later on.

inI finally got my bean soup right after three tries and it was all about the salt timing
My grandma always said to salt beans after they're soft, otherwise the skins get tough.

inTIL my old way of cleaning a flue was actually making things worse
Yeah, I had the same thing happen with my wood stove pipe. The metal brush was just packing it in tighter. Switched to one of those nylon ones and it actually pulls the gunk out.
