Just dealt with a 2 AM outage at our Chicago office and Comcast was useless

Honestly, I used to be the guy who'd say "just follow the contract and escalate" whenever people complained about carrier SLAs. Then we had a similar thing happen here in Denver - our fiber went down at 3 AM on a Saturday, and Comcast basically told us to wait until Monday. I've been through that same "4 hour SLA" nonsense where they don't even start counting the clock until you call them. For us, getting a secondary fiber from a different provider actually helped when negotiating, but even then it took threatening to leave entirely to get real movement. The big carriers just don't care about small-ish offices unless you're spending six figures a month.

Switched to a password manager after my email got hacked last month

LastPass leaked data a few years back and that made me REAL nervous. But honestly the convenience of auto-filling passwords on my phone is too good to give up. I just switched to Bitwarden after that whole LastPass mess and it's been solid. Plus having unique passwords for every site beats using "Password123" or some variation of your pet's name.

Always swore by synthetic oil until I saw the carbon buildup firsthand

Took the valve cover off my buddy's Genesis and found what looked like a charcoal briquette factory in there.

Just hit 1,000 test prompts on a local LLM I'm fine-tuning for recipe generation...

Yeah I was skeptical too @davidwright but it's wild how precise it can be with timing and temperature. The tracking alone makes it worth trying out.

The day I stopped ignoring my bike chain wear

Is it really that big of a deal though? I mean I've been riding for years and never checked a chain once. Had the same chain on my old bike for like 5 years and it never snapped. People act like it's a death sentence if you skip one check. A worn chain just shifts a little worse. So what? You replace it a bit sooner. That's not worth stressing over every 400 miles. I'd rather spend my time riding than obsessing over a tool.
