My rice cooker died right in the middle of a bulk bean cooking session
I was making a big batch of black beans and rice to freeze for the month last Wednesday, and the cooker just stopped heating halfway through. Now I've got hard beans and mushy rice that I had to toss, plus I'm out $15 for the ingredients. Anybody got a go to stovetop method that works as good as a rice cooker for cheap meals?

Used to swear by the stovetop but my rice cooker ruined me for it, honestly this post changed my mind.

Rinse the rice first, use a 2:1 water ratio, and keep the lid on tight. @mitchell.terry is right though, cookers are just easier.
