Pro tip: I started freezing leftover veggie scraps for broth and saved $12 last month
Last Tuesday I threw a bag of carrot peels, onion ends, and celery leaves into a pot instead of the trash... boiled it for an hour and got three quarts of free stock. My mom taught me this trick when I visited her in Portland last fall, and I'm kicking myself for not trying it sooner. Anyone else do this with their scraps?

Oh wow, that's such a good tip! I started doing this a couple months ago after my roommate showed me. I threw in some garlic skins and a random mushroom stem too and it actually tasted pretty good.

Honestly it's kind of wild how many little things like this we just throw away without thinking. I feel like there's a whole world of flavor hiding in scraps we normally toss.
