Old timer told me I was scrubbing wrong and it changed my whole routine
Been sweeping chimneys for about 12 years now and thought I had it all figured out. Then this guy Bill who's been doing it since the 70s watched me work a job over on Maple Street. He said I was wasting time by going back and forth instead of using one smooth continuous motion from top to bottom. I tried his method on the next three jobs and cut my cleaning time by almost 15 minutes per chimney. Now I can do six stops in a day instead of four or five. Has anyone else had a veteran change the way you do something basic like that?

My first kitchen job, a line cook named Rosa spent five minutes showing me how to hold a chef's knife properly, gripping the blade instead of the handle. Knocked my prep time down by like 30 percent once I got used to it. Funny how something that simple can make such a huge difference in your day.

Right, Rosa out here saving you from years of wrist pain with one little trick lol. Meanwhile I spent my first month gripping the handle like it was a baseball bat and wondering why my carrots looked like they went through a woodchipper. Knuckles against the blade felt so wrong at first but now I can't even hold a knife the old way without feeling like a caveman. Bet my old prep time was like 30 percent slower too, just a lot more crying and band-aids involved. Shoutout to the Rosas of the world doing the lord's work.
