Changed my mind on a heat pump after the install

I spent about $8,500 on a whole-house heat pump system last fall, convinced it was a waste. Our old gas furnace was fine. But after one winter in Seattle, our heating bill dropped by almost 40 percent. The installer showed me the energy use numbers and I couldn't argue. Has anyone else seen savings that big in the first year?

Had the same doubt before seeing my own bill drop.

Check the actual usage on your bill. They often estimate high so you get a surprise credit later. Mine did the same thing last summer.

Had the same doubt" is a pretty mild reaction for something like a utility bill. I mean, unless the amount was off by hundreds, it's probably just a minor adjustment they'll fix next cycle. Are people really out here stressing over estimated readings that much?
