Swapped my gas lawn mower for an electric reel mower, still adjusting after 3 months

So back in April I finally ditched my old gas mower for one of those push reel mowers with a battery assist, the kind that still lets you feel the blades but helps on hills. I live in a suburb outside Columbus and my lawn is maybe a quarter acre, so I figured it was worth a shot for cutting emissions and noise. The first two weeks were rough, my grass was too tall and it kept jamming, plus I had to sharpen the blades right away. But after I got into a weekly mowing habit and learned to cut when the grass is dry, it's been way smoother. I still miss the speed on hot days, and my neighbor with his zero turn definitely judges me. Has anyone else made the switch and stuck with it, or did you go back to gas or a full electric? I'm torn on whether to invest in a better battery model or keep tuning this one.

You sharpened the blades on a reel mower after two weeks? Most people never touch those things until the grass starts looking ragged, so you're already ahead of the curve. Sounds like you've got the patience of a saint, because I'd have tossed that thing in the shed after the first jam and fired up the gas can. Good on you for sticking with it, that battery assist is probably saving your back on those hills.
