PSA: My cousin showed me how she traces code by hand and it helped me more than any tutorial
Two months ago I was stuck for 9 days on a simple login form in my first coding class at the community college in Mesa. My cousin came over and instead of fixing it for me, she grabbed a notebook and traced every single line by hand, writing down what each variable held at each step. She said "the computer only does what you tell it, so read it back like a story." I did that on my own for an hour and found my bug, I had a bracket in the wrong spot. Now I read my code out loud before I run it and I catch way more stuff. Has anyone else tried the paper tracing trick when they get stuck?
