Pour over disaster in a hotel bathroom at 6 AM

I was traveling in Portland for a gig and brought my V60 kit, but the hotel only had a mini kettle that shut off at 180 degrees. First cup came out sour, second was over extracted after I guessed the timing, and by the third I just dumped the whole thing in a mug with cold milk and called it a win. Do you adapt your brew on the road or do you just accept bad coffee until you're home?
