That moment my espresso machine steam wand went haywire at 6 AM
I was pulling shots at a friend's pop-up cafe in Portland last Saturday and the steam wand started spitting water instead of steam. Turned out the o-ring inside the group head had swollen up from some cheap descaling solution the previous owner used. Had to cancel the first 20 orders while I ran to a shop on Powell for a $3 replacement part. Has anyone else had an o-ring fail on a Bezzera BZ10?

Only a $3 part... that's wild. I had a similar thing happen with my old Gaggia, but the tech wanted to charge me $80 for the replacement because he had to order a whole seal kit. You got lucky finding it at a shop on Powell, that's basically unheard of for a Bezzera part in stock like that. I've seen those o-rings swell up from the wrong descaler before, it's scary how fast it happens. Bet you felt like a hero when you got that machine back up for under five bucks though.

Did you try checking a local plumbing supply store?
