Just realized I spent 45 minutes debating who would win a fight between Batman and Iron Man with a guy at the comic shop last Saturday
He was team Iron Man for the tech, I was team Batman for the prep time, and we both walked away still convinced the other was wrong, so how do you settle a fan debate like that when neither side will budge?

Yeah, me and my buddy had the same argument for like three years over Goku vs Superman. What finally ended it for us was we just agreed to disagree and started arguing about who'd win in a straight fistfight with no powers instead. That way neither of us had to admit we were wrong but we still got to argue about it.

the thing nobody ever brings up is the stadium issue. like, are they fighting in a place batman knows or a place iron man knows? because batman's whole thing is prep time but that prep is useless if he doesn't know the terrain. iron man could literally just pick a random field in montana and batman shows up with no gadgets pre-placed, no escape routes mapped out. but if batman picks gotham, he's got every rooftop memorized and probably has a backup plan for every single one of iron man's suit variations. the location is the real deciding factor and nobody ever wants to admit that.
