Spent $400 on a 'rare' comic that turned out to be a reprint glued to a backing board
I found this comic at a small con in Phoenix, a vendor swore it was a super low print run from the 90s. He had a whole story about it being a warehouse find. I was so hyped, I paid cash without a second thought. Got home and was showing it off under a good light when I noticed the cover felt weirdly thick. Peeling back a corner of the backing board, I saw modern printer lines. The whole thing was a new print glued onto old board stock to fake the feel. I'm out four hundred bucks and my pride. The worst part is the story was so good I almost respect the hustle. Anyone know a legit grader in the southwest I can trust before I buy anything else?

Four hundred bucks is a rough lesson but not the end of the world.

Honestly though, is four hundred dollars actually a rough lesson for everyone? That's like a full grocery trip or a car payment for some people. Tbh it could be the difference between making rent or not depending on your situation.
