Bought a used Kirby Morgan band mask for $600 and it saved my ears on a deep job
Picked it up off a retired diver in Louisiana last spring. First time I went past 100 feet with it, the comms were clear and the equalization was way easier than my old hard hat. Felt like I could hear every valve turning on the surface. Best money I ever spent on gear, hands down. Anyone else swap to a band mask and notice a big difference?

best money I ever spent on gear, hands down" - I feel you, but gotta jump in here real quick. Those used Kirby Morgans that come from old school divers are usually the older MK-1 models, not the newer ones with the good valves. If yours was $600 it's definitely an older one, which is fine, but you gotta watch the silicone skirt. Those old skirts get crusty and start leaking around 80-90 feet, even if they look fine. I had a buddy who bought one same deal and his comms went to static at 120 feet cause the skirt was dry rotted. Might wanna check the date code on the rubber before you rely on it for deep work again.

Man, that's rough about your buddy's comms going out, hope he's okay.
