Just read that the deepest recorded commercial dive on air was over 600 feet back in the 80s, which is insane.
Found that fact in an old diving manual from a retired diver in Galveston, and it really makes you respect the old-school guys, doesn't it?

Honestly, that kind of dive just seems reckless with what we know now about gas narcosis.

Yeah, that part about it making you respect the old-school guys really hits home. I used to think all the modern tech made them seem less impressive, but facts like that prove how wrong I was. They were pushing limits with gear that seems basic now. That kind of dive on just air is a whole different level of nerve.
