Ran a Kirby Morgan vs a Heliox hat on this 130 foot job, no contest
Spent 3 days in the Kirby and my comms were clear the whole time, the Heliox crate had a faulty exhaust valve that fogged my faceplate on day one. Am I crazy or is the extra setup time on mixed gas hats worth avoiding those mid-dive fixes? Anyone else dumping old hats for newer ones?
Ran into the same thing with an old Miller on a 140 foot gig last year. That exhaust valve issue is always the little stuff that eats your whole dive. Spent 20 minutes on the surface messing with it while my tender just shook his head. I swapped to a newer hat after that and never looked back, the setup time is worth it when you're not fighting gear at depth.
