Spent $180 on a Kirby Morgan band clamp that saved my dive
Back in 2018 I was working a wreck job off the coast of Galveston and my old clamp started slipping during a 60 foot descent. Dropped $180 on a new one from a shop in Houma and it held rock solid for the rest of the season. Anyone else had a piece of gear fail at the worst possible time?

Totally agree @spencer407, the cheap stuff always gets ya when you least expect it.

My old Sherwood regulator started freeflowing at 40 feet on a reef dive in the Keys because I didn't notice the O-ring had a tiny tear in it. Swapped it out with a spare I keep in my save-a-dive kit and the thing worked perfectly the rest of the trip. That cheap little rubber ring cost me maybe 50 cents but it saved the whole dive day. Now I check EVERY O-ring before I splash, no matter how new the gear looks. Sometimes the cheapest parts are the ones that'll bite you hardest.
