Used to just wing it with wood glue, now I actually measure out clamping time

I saw a video from a cabinet maker who tested Titebond II in Different temps and he said cold glue lines take way longer to set up. @brookep27 is totally right though even in a warm shop I give mine a full hour before messing with it because I've had joints slip on me before.

Blew $400 on a fancy dash cam setup and it barely caught a hit-and-run

Man, did you wire that thing backwards or something? I dropped $300 on a dash cam with night vision and parking mode thinking I was being smart, and it caught my neighbor walking his dog at 3 AM but completely missed the guy who backed into my bumper at Kroger. The motion sensor on mine is so sensitive it picks up leaves blowing, so I had to turn it way down and now it only records ghosts apparently. My buddy told me to get a super expensive one with AI detection, but at this point I feel like I'm just paying for a fancy toy that fails when it counts. How do you even figure out the right balance between too many alerts and missing the real action?

Spent $180 on a Kirby Morgan band clamp that saved my dive

My old Sherwood regulator started freeflowing at 40 feet on a reef dive in the Keys because I didn't notice the O-ring had a tiny tear in it. Swapped it out with a spare I keep in my save-a-dive kit and the thing worked perfectly the rest of the trip. That cheap little rubber ring cost me maybe 50 cents but it saved the whole dive day. Now I check EVERY O-ring before I splash, no matter how new the gear looks. Sometimes the cheapest parts are the ones that'll bite you hardest.

Old timer at the jobsite changed how I see brick cleaning

Hang on though @lindaw12, is switching the vinegar really the same idea? I mean with the brick trick you're adding grit to scrape off stuff, but vinegar is just acid breaking down grime chemically. They solve different problems, you know? One is physical scrubbing and the other is a chemical reaction. So calling them the same might be missing the point of what the brick trick actually does. Not trying to argue, just feels like two totally separate approaches to me.

That one shift last Tuesday where every single customer wanted me to rebuild their bottom bracket on the spot, no appointment

Buddy of mine had a guy bring in donuts and then ask for a discount.
