Hit 1,000 service calls this week - never thought I'd get there
I'm a solo tech in a small town outside Columbus, Ohio, and this past Tuesday I logged my 1,000th computer repair job. I started fixing PCs out of my garage four years ago after getting laid off from a factory job. Never figured I'd stick with it this long or handle that many machines. The milestone hit me when I was replacing a power supply on an old Dell optiplex for a local dentist office. Something about that number made me realize how many sticky keyboards, dead hard drives, and virus-ridden laptops I've seen. It's not glamorous work, but it's steady. I'm curious how long it took other independent techs to rack up that many calls. Did you keep count or just let it slide?

1000 service calls" is a real grind. That's a lot of bad power supplies and busted laptops. You earned that milestone for sure.

1000 service calls" is no joke, that takes serious dedication and you should be proud.

Did you keep a running tally on your phone or just a mental count? I used to mark every call on a whiteboard in my workshop, helped me stay motivated when the numbers were dragging. Also started keeping spare power supply bricks sorted by model in labeled bins, saved me a ton of time swapping parts. It's the little organizational stuff that made the biggest difference for me.
