Just had a client's cat knock a full glass of water into their brand new gaming PC. The splash zone was impressive.
Happened yesterday afternoon. Was finishing up a Windows install. Turned my back for maybe 30 seconds to grab a cable. Heard the crash. Cat jumped from a shelf right onto the desk. Glass went over, water went straight into the top vents. The RGB lit up like a fountain for a second before everything died. Spent the next two hours with isopropyl and a hair dryer. Anyone have a good story for convincing clients to keep pets away from the work area?

Feel that pain so hard. Watched a corgi take out an entire test bench with its tail once, just a happy little wag sending parts flying. The sound of liquid hitting electronics is uniquely terrible. In my experience, showing them the dried rice trick for phones sometimes makes the danger feel more real. Good luck with the recovery.

My old lab had a "no drinks past this line" rule after a coffee killed a $3k oscilloscope. Silica gel packs work better than rice for drying things out.
