9 days to fix a cold joint I should have caught in 5 minutes

Last month I did a slab out in Fresno and got a cold joint because the ready mix truck showed up 2 hours late. The seam was barely visible until we power troweled it, then it looked like a scar across the whole middle. I tried patching it with a bonder and resurfacer, which worked for about 4 days, then it cracked right along the same line. Ended up cutting out a 10 inch strip, rebar tying it back, and pouring a new section with a high early mix. Total fix time was 9 days because of curing and matching the finish. My crew and I burned a whole weekend babysitting it. Has anyone else had a late truck cause a joint that just refuses to blend in, or did I miss a faster way to handle it?

Nah, a bonder wont hold a cold joint that wide, cutting it was the right call.
