Hot take: I thought those cheap plastic edgers were a good deal
I bought a pack of three for like $25 online last month, thinking I'd save cash on a small patio job. The first one snapped clean in half when I put any real pressure on the curve. The second one flexed so much it left a wavy line in the fresh concrete. I had to stop, run to the supply house, and buy a proper magnesium float and edger for over $80 to fix the mess. What's the worst cheap tool you've wasted money on?

That magnesium float and edger combo for $80 is actually a pretty good deal. In my area, a decent magnesium float alone can run you $50. The real killer is when you buy a cheap tool, it fails, and then you have to buy the good version anyway. You end up spending more total, just like you did. I've been there with a bargain bin putty knife that bent on the first nail hole.

My $12 "heavy duty" staple gun made it through half a box of staples before the spring gave up.
